China Bars Some Rhianna Hits From Download Sites

BEIJING, China -- Chinas Secretary of state for Culture has purchased music download sites to remove tunes by Rhianna, Katy Perry, the Backstreet Boys along with other celebrities within two days or face punishment. The ministry published a listing of 100 tunes including Lady Gagas Judas and Perrys Last Friday Evening that needed to be cleared in the Chinese web simply because they had never been posted for mandatory government screening. Six Rhianna tunes in most were out there, all from her latest album. The 12-year-old ballad I Would Like It This Way through the Backstreet Boys seemed to be specific. A large number of Hong Kong and Taiwanese pop tunes along with a couple of Western hits were listed too. The ministry stated the rule was designed to preserve Chinas national cultural security. Sites were advised within the August. 19 announcement published towards the ministrys website that they until Sept. 15 to handle self-correction and remove the tunes. It stated violators could be punished, but didnt outline the penalties they'd face. It didnt state that the listed tunes were objectionable, just that they not been approved for distribution. China government carefully screens this content of imported entertainment content for political messages or commentary that runs unlike its official line. Foreign music functions particularly are thought to get special scrutiny after Icelandic singer Bjork yelled Tibet! throughout a 2008 concert in Shanghai after carrying out an audio lesson entitled Declare Independence. China claims Tibet happens to be a part of its territory, however, many Tibetans the Himalayan region was virtually independent for hundreds of years which Beijings tight control is draining them of the culture and identity. Composers score WSA noms

Double nominees Alexandre Desplat, Clint Mansell and Hans Zimmer lead the contenders for the 11th annual World Soundtrack Awards, the culmination of Belgium's 38th Ghent Film Festival, on Oct. 22. Giorgio Moroder, the Italian electronica pioneer behind the soundtracks of "Midnight Express," "Scarface" and "Flashdance," will receive the WSA's lifetime achievement award, following in the footsteps of such composers as Elmer Bernstein, Maurice Jarre and last year's honoree, John Barry. Fest artistic director Patrick Duynslaegher acknowledged that Moroder is being recognized as much for his film work as he is for his producer work with such disco divas as Donna Summer and pop chameleons like David Bowie. "Moroder revolutionized electronic dance music, and to this day, he is anything but forgotten," said Duynslaegher in a statement. A selection of Moroder's work will be performed live by the Brussels Philharmonic at the awards. Up for film composer of the year honors are Desplat, who was recognized for eight films, including "The King's Speech," "Tree of Life" and the last two "Harry Potter" films; Zimmer (seven pics, including "Inception" and "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides"; Clint Mansell ("Black Swan" among others); John Powell (three animated works, including "Rio" and "Kung Fu Panda 2"); and Patrick Doyle ("La Ligne droite," "Thor," "Jig"). For the year's best original film score, Desplat's "King's Speech," Mansell's "Black Swan" and Zimmer's "Inception" scores are competing with music from "True Grit" (Carter Burwell) and "The Social Network" (Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross), which nabbed the original score Oscar in February. For movie song kudos, composer lyricists Randy Newman ("We Belong Together," from "Toy Story 3") and Diane Warren ("You Haven't Seen the Last of Me," from "Burlesque") will compete with the teams behind "Coming Home" from "Country Strong" (Bob DiPiero, Tom Douglas, Hillary Lindsey and Troy Verges), "I See the Light" from "Tangled" (Alan Menken, Glenn Slater) and "If I Rise" from "127 Hours" (A.R. Rahman, Dido Armstrong and Rollo Armstrong). In addition, the music of Zimmer, along with that of composers Elliot Goldenthal, Howard Shore and the winner of last year's World Soundtrack Discovery Award, Abel Korzeniowski, will be performed by the Brussels Philharmonic in a concert dedicated to the memory of Ronni Chasen, the publicist who helped put the festival on the map and whose clients included Zimmer, Goldenthal and Shore. WSA honorees are determined by the more than 300 international members of the WSA Academy comprised of composers, film professionals, record label executives and other reps of the film music biz. Millionaire Matchmaker Patti Stanger Is Single, Offers 13 Pearls of Wisdom

Patti Stanger "It was the scariest time of my life," Patti Stanger told reporters recently about diving back into the dating scene. The Millionaire Matchmaker returns Monday at 9/8c on Bravo as a single gal and shares in her clients' misery. That's right, Stanger has subjected herself to the dreaded mixer process and first date on camera. But will she scare away potential lovers with her notoriously brash and outspoken personality? "You will see a totally different Patti," she said. "I'm like soft, subdued and submissive when I date. I'm completely different. My ex used to say, 'Can we push the business mode off and go back to, you know, sweet Patti?' I'm really like that in my personal life, and it does come across on camera. ... I'm very quiet when I date." What's on your Watchlist? Create one and add favorites like Millionaire Matchmaker Although Stanger trusts her COO Destin Pfaff and his fiancée/VP of Matching Rachel Federoff to help make matches for the Millionaire's Club, her own love life is a different story. "I was worried about Destin and Rachel finding my type, which they did not do," she said. "They would love me to go alternative and Goth on them. Not happening. My manager and one of my closest friends [selected for me]. "Whether or not they did good kind of remains to be seen. They kind of mess it up. I wondered if the producers did it on purpose. I pick a guy who's adorable but he's metro. I like rugged [usually], but he was the only blond, and I like blonds ... And there is one rugged guy I pick, but he's totally not for me. You will see what happens. It is disastrous." Part of her problem might be that she doesn't date a guy who makes the same income as she does. "I tend to date down," she admitted. "The men who are attractive to me are everything from firefighters to regular Joes. I have to be sexually attracted. On my applications, the first thing I say is 'Which would you rather have, looks or money?' And I'm a looks person. Because there's no gray line. Getting looks and money together is really the Chupacabra. That's a hard thing to find. It's not easy, especially when you're my age." Bravo renews O.C. Housewives, signs two-year deal with Patti Stanger "I think I'd like to date a millionaire, but I never am attracted to my clients," she revealed. "They lead with their negative foot, they tell me all their dark secrets, and I don't see any romance there. So even when they hit on me I'm like 'Yuck!' you know? There have been a lot of guys on camera for the last five years who hit on me and I went, 'Get away!' ... So I don't tend to date millionaires, but it would be nice maybe off camera if I did and date somebody who made equal or more money than me and let them romance me that way. I haven't met anyone like that." Even as Stanger is getting her own love life sorted out, she's still dispensing advice for the lovelorn - wealthy or otherwise. Check out what she has to say about the upcoming season of Millionaire Matchmaker, her views on the dating habits of stars like Jennifer Lopez and Sandra Bullock, and general rules for anyone seeking their soulmate: 1. Millionairesses = Trouble: "We only have one millionairess this season. They are the suers in the matchmaking industry, so everyone should know that. That's why I don't take females on. I subcontract them out to another agency that only specializes in women. They're very difficult." 2. Your Vibrations Can't Fool Patti: "I've been psychic since I was a child. I ran the Kenny Kingston Psychic Network for eight years. I don't talk about it on the show. I was a practicing astrologer for 10 and I read vibrations. But I never read body language with vibrations, so now I got the full [range from Dr. Lillian Glass]. So it's really cool. I can look at a couple and know what's going to happen just by looking at them. It's kind of weird." 3. Gay Men Don't, But Should, Heed Her "No Sex Before Monogamy" Rule: "I don't know what to tell you people. I tell you not to have sex, and nobody listens to me, you know? I really need to give a speech at GLAAD and say, 'Hey, you know, you need to start listening to me.'" Drop Dead Matchmaker 4. Celebrities Can Enlighten Your Dating: "We have a multimillionaire, probably one of our richest guys, from Vancouver. He believes that when you're pregnant, you need to stop working and be barefoot. ... So I wanted to show him that Tori [Spelling] didn't live off her family's money. She built her own career. She didn't marry rich. We know Dean [McDermott]'s not rich, and that at the time she was pregnant but she didn't know it, and that she could have babies and chickens and cats and dogs [and her career]." 5. Los Angeles Singles > New York Singles: "I think [Los Angeles daters] are appreciative and I think it's a really rough town to be single in as everyone's beautiful here but nobody commits. So when you have Matthew McConaughey as your poster boy living on the beach in a trailer with two kids and dating a Catholic girl who you don't marry, you know, anything goes here. We're the land of anything goes. ... And when the girls become beaten up emotionally they're appreciative, which New York didn't have. They were the bitterest people I had ever seen and they're dumb. They're just dumb people. I mean, smart in business, dumb in love ... I mean they won't date outside their zip code ... So [in] L.A., they listen to me." Watch Millionaire Matchmaker videos 6. Celebrity Women Could Use Patti's Help: "I'd probably want to do Sandra Bullock because I feel so bad for her. I feel she's so wounded over Jesse that even though a kid is great, it doesn't take the place of a man. ... [Jennifer Lopez] needs an entrepreneur that lets her shine on the carpet that has way more money than her, like the billionaire status that gives her the world but then lets her walk the carpet alone. ... I mean she was literally engaged to Ben Affleck for five minutes and went straight to Marc Anthony. There was no time to grieve. Come on. You had your wedding a week later planned. So that was ridiculous. They make stupid decisions, most of these people." 7. Share the Wealth Online: "If I were online dating I'd do four at once. That's how I did it back in the day, and I got a boyfriend out of that. You've got to pit them against each other." 8. Follow Your Passion: "One of the reasons my last relationship broke up is because we were friends first and we didn't have a lot of passion. You do get comfortable and complacent in those relationships. But, you know, the je ne sais quoi was missing. So I think whether it's work, love, health, you've got to follow your passion, you know. I think that when we get off the road and we sell out in any of those areas we don't end up happy." 9. Call It a Night: "My grandmother used to say that nothing good happens after 11 at night. Go home." Check out the rest of today's news 10. Two Drinks Maximum on a Date: "If you get to third [drink], a woman nine times out of 10 is not a man and cannot take that much alcohol. So they TMI. They tell everything -- 'My mom is in jail and my dad left my mother for a younger woman. I have no job. Did I tell you I can't find a job?' And then the guy's like 'What?' So he goes home and processes and they're no longer dating." 11. Let the Man Lead: " The worst thing that can happen is the guy talks at you and brags at you and then you lose interest. And if you over-talk it, you gab away, he falls asleep. His penis goes limp." 12. No Sex Before Monogamy: "Obviously that's a major rule, OK, because oxytocin will kick in. You'll feel like you're in love even if he's a loser." 13. Don't Worry If You're Currently Alone: "He or she is probably right around the corner. It's usually those down times when you have to get into you. And once you get into you, the phone starts ringing. I learned that lesson the hard way especially." Stanger puts her advice to the test for her clients and herself as the Millionaire Matchmaker on Mondays at 9/8c on Bravo.

Black suit man (Suhail Aldabbach) in "The Hurt Locker" Situation: Sargent First Class William James (Jeremy Renner) gets called in to disarm a bomb strapped to an innocent Iraqi man. Though American soldiers approach the man with suspicion, a translator assures James and his team that the man is innocent. Outcome: James doesn't have the equipment to remove the locks in time and is forced to let the man detonate. Max (Lloyd Bridges) in "Blown Away" Situation: In order to get revenge on his former partner, Irish terrorist Ryan Gaerity (Tommy Lee Jones) fits a home-made bomb onto the man's uncle. Outcome: Jimmy (Jeff Bridges) arrives just in time to see his uncle explode. J.D. (Christian Slater) in "Heathers" Situation: After assisting in a series of murders, Veronica (Winona Ryder) tells J.D. she will no longer kill and fakes a suicide. London Riots: Worst Civil Unrest in Memory as City Gears Up for 2012 Olympics

LONDON - Less than a year before London plays host to the 2012 Olympics, the National Olympic Committee members gathered in London to prepare for the games watched in horror Monday night after the city was struck by a third night of widespread violence, looting and arson.our editor recommendsLondon Riots Spark Fears for Entertainment Businesses The chief managers of the Games' 204 participating teams are here to fine-tune preparations about transport, accommodation and food preparation. But their concerns were dwarfed by a third night of turmoil in London, which transformed some of the city's urban pockets into scenes of utter destruction. Among the areas struck by the worst violence and plundering from marauding gangs were Croydon, Hackney, Notting Hill, Clapham, Peckham, East Dulwich, Enfield, Islington, Hackney, Camden Town, Soho and Bethnal Green. The spectacle of 6000 Metropolitan police officers on the street in full riot gear and with dogs - yet still unable to cope with multiple breakouts of violence - will have done little to promote the city's reputation as Olympic-ready. Scenes of masked hooligans were seen on television ransacking shops with impunity, leaving buses, cars and whole blocks of shops in an inferno of flames without any sign of the fire brigade or police presence, have left serious questions about whether police here can handle any protests that might break out during the Games next year. So far, representatives for the London 2012 Organizing Committee have maintained that security plans are in place and said that those plans and arrangements are "in constant review." "Our position is that a lot of detailed work has taken place regarding security plans for the Games and we continue to review then with the Metropolitan Police Force," Adrian Bassett, spokesman for the London 2012 Games told the Hollywood Reporter. Asked if the Games organizers had fielded concerns from the participating countries about the extent to which security issues will now cloud the games, he said he was unsure. "I honestly don't know. They [the 204 National Olympic Committee members] are just starting today on their seminars today but I am sure they see the newspapers and watch television like everyone else." Elswhere, British Olympics Association director of communications Darryl Seibeltold Sky Sports that security around the games was "under control." "No doubt this is not the type of advert we want to see with less than a year to go to the Games," he told Sky Sports News. "From the day London was awarded the Games, security was a tp priority for the authorities and we have a lot of confidence in the plan that has been developed." Asked if any damage had been caused to Olympic venues he said. "I'm not aware of any, no." However, London's police have already admitted that they have not been able to respond to calls because they have been overstretched and London's Fire Brigade said that on many occasions it had not been able to respond to calls about burning buildings and vehicles because there were no police available to protect their fire officers. Already the England-Holland soccer friendly scheduled for Wednesday night at Wembley has been cancelled and a slew of local games in South and East London have also been postponed as police struggle to find a way to bring the growing lawlessness under control. The dramatic pictures of burning buildings across numerous London locations have spread round the world, forcing both Prime Minister David Cameronand Mayor of London Boris Johnsonto cut short their holidays and return to the U.K. to deal with the situation. The government's disaster and emergencies committee, COBRA, is meeting in emergency session Monday morning to discuss whether ramping up police powers and introducing a curfew are potential next steps to take. 'Rise From The Planet from the Apes' Director States It Is A 'Self-Contained Film'

Having a title like "Rise from the Planet from the Apes," you receive what you are having to pay when ever you hit the cinema a few days ago. But that is the the most recent "Planet from the Apes" reboot. Though anybody who's seen the classic Charlton Heston flick knows how this movie will finish (hint: the apes will rise), it is the fresh story using its moral lesson that's the enjoyment a part of "Rise." "Your way may be the destination, I believe,Inch director Rupert Wyatt told MTV News at Comic-Disadvantage. "I believe it's within the telling clearly, and that is the way you desired to approach the building of this film. The telling from the story and that is things to us really was intriguing, notable and really exciting." The same is true which means that that "Rise" is establishing a reboot from the entire "Planet from the Apes" franchise? Wyatt states no. "This can be a very, very self-contained film in the same manner you can say 'Spartacus' is," he described. "I am talking about, it is the story of the revolutionary microcosm. Company, there'll potentially be considered a greater conflict, a far more global conflict, a far more continental conflict, when it comes to what uses this. Which could be wonderful." Such as the five-film lengthy series before it (forgive us for disregarding Tim Burton's 2001 flick), Wyatt feels as though there's lots of existence within the "Apes" story. He's just saying he did not finish "Rise" using the intent of creating an immediate follow up. But that does not imply that he'd be against ongoing the storyplot he began within this flick. "That might be fantastic to determine what comes next when it comes to the conflict between humans and apes," he stated. "There are many mileage for the reason that and great tales, and so i think for all of us this isn't about lounging the footwork and departing it so open-ended it's not really a self-contained, satisfying narrative, since it certainly is the fact that, I believe.Inch Do you want to see more movies follow "Rise from the Planet from the Apes"?
